Prague is a city that now has a number of hotel options in the luxury sector. But when I found out the city had a Buddha-Bar Hotel, a boutique property located close to Old Town Square, I knew I had to check it out.
Prague’s Buddha-Bar Hotel is the restaurant/club/chill music brand’s effort to redefine an “Urban Resort” and I thought it might be a fun place to stay. I knew at the very least, the Buddha Bar music would be cool.

The boutique property is small, with only 36 rooms and 3 suites, all gorgeously designed in an Asian theme with scarlet red being the dominant color. Breakfast was included in my room rate and was served in the Siddhartha Café downstairs (I’ll go more into the dining options in a future post).

The staff was small but helpful and the rooms incredibly glamorous if not the most practical. I was in room 12, (I was upgraded to a Premier category) room and the glamorous bedroom and gorgeous and spacious bathroom were indeed incredible. The Bed is the prominent feature in the bedroom, so there isn’t really a place to chillax in your room if you’re not comfortable hanging out on the bed.

The room design aesthetic is high end Chinoiserie with a touch of Hong Kong Bordello glam, and indeed romantic. My only complaint was because of the bed’s position, it was difficult to set use my computer and sit comfortably at the table in the bedroom when I needed to work on my laptop. Instead, I opted to go to the café when I needed to be on my laptop. There were plenty of electrical outlets well positioned in the room to handle all charging needs. These touches were nice, and I knew going in that this was a romantic getaway hotel, not a business hotel.

The bathroom was ridiculously large and include both a shower and tub. The huge bathtub had a tiled dragon on the side and the shower had great rain head shower (with a separate hand shower only) with enough water pressure to actually get the shampoo out of your hair. Duel sinks were a nice touch. The bathroom amenities were l’Occitane and replenished every day. The trash can was a bit on the small side, and the toilet was tucked away in a separate powder room in the entry way.

While the Buddha-Bar Hotel property is small, that doesn’t mean the staff is anything less than attentive. There was twice-daily maid service, and I was greeted with welcome drink. Chocolates and a weather report were waiting on my bed when I got back to my room each evening, letting me know what tomorrow’s weather would be. Chill Buddha-Bar tunes were piping through the Bang & Olufsen after turn down service was complete.

The hotel staff was very helpful with restaurant and other recommendations. I am especially grateful they insisted I use their suggested taxi company when I needed to get the train station. That Taxi Company was by far the most honest I found—(taxi drivers in Prague are notorious for trying to overcharge you) and they gave me a basis to know when someone was going to rip me off.
The staff was very pleasant and helpful and the rooms designed in such a way that I could put my entire luggage away in the entry and hang my coat and settle into the divinely designed room. Wi-Fi was free and worked everywhere on the property (including the café).
My biggest surprise about the property was how laid back it was. I’m sure it’s much busier on the weekends but during my Sunday-Tuesday visit it was chill and lay back, but still luxurious. A glamorous gem in Prague’s Old Town and perfect for a romantic get away.
