Guten Nacht from Berlin

I flew KLM this morning from Amsterdam’s Schipol airport to Berlin’s soon-to-close Tegel airport.

I tried out the RealTime TiltShift video app and now I’m spending a few days at the Ritz-Carlton Berlin on PotsdamerPlatz.

Tonight I’ll be checking out Randy Newman’s show.

If you don’t recognize Randy Newman’s name or songs, you might know him as a character on The Family Guy.

For lunch, I had for wiener schnitzel from Lutter & Wegner, which is just across from the hotel.

Berlin is a fantastic city for style and culture. Yes, everyone knows this city is full of history. But did you know it also has some fantastic smaller museums including The Ramones Museum. Here are some mobile photography images I shot on my old iiPhone during my last trip to Berlin.

Berlin is so gorgeous and stylish, no shortage of Hollywood blockbusters has shot here. Among my favorites Ocean’s Twelve and The Bourne Supremacy, both of which used the Westin as a location. If you’ve ever seen Wim Wenders Wings of Desire, you probably understand why this city gets me very excited about taking pictures in this city, especially in black and white.

If you like photography and find yourself in Berlin, I highly recommend the Helmut Newton Gallery. Not only do they have some of the photographer’s iconic nude portraits, but it also is a museum with many of Newton’s cameras on display as well as other items, like the collection of merkins he used for his models.
